The Medtronic Onyx® 20 Liquid Embolic System is a non-adhesive liquid embolic agent designed for controlled endovascular embolization of complex neurovascular and peripheral vascular lesions.

Developed by Medtronic Neurovascular, Onyx® 20 is formulated using ethylene-vinyl alcohol copolymer (EVOH) dissolved in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and mixed with micronized tantalum powder for radiopacity during fluoroscopic visualization.

Engineered for predictable and controlled embolization, Onyx® forms a cohesive embolic cast when injected into the target vessel. As the DMSO solvent diffuses into the bloodstream, the EVOH polymer precipitates and solidifies, allowing physicians to gradually occlude abnormal vascular structures with high precision.
